Handmade with specialist tools to create a small bowl with gradually curving modern sides, a sturdy feel, and a slightly warped profile - a result of turning the wood thin whilst wet and allowing it to dry and warp, giving it a natural rustic look.. This fruit bowl is light in the hand and silky smooth to the touch. Finished with a combination of wax, oils and buffing to help preserve the natural pale colour of ash and help to improve durability. This bowl measures 19cm wide, 7.5cm tall, and 6.5cm deep.
 
English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels and bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
