Hand turned to create a medium sized bowl with a traditional curvy shape and a very thin profile. Featuring a large natural void with a bark inclusion and a warped shape - a result of turning the wood thin whilst wet and allowing it to dry and warp, giving it a natural rustic look . Finished with a food safe hard wax oil to highlight the beauty of the grain and to improve durability. This large bowl measures 25cm wide, 9cm tall, and 8cm deep. Whilst this piece is delicate, it makes a perfect centerpiece or as home decor.
 
English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels and bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
