English ash, locally sourced and processed from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels and bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.

Finished with an ancient Japanese technique called Yakisugi, which involves using a 2000 degree flame to cause instant charring on the surface of the wood, before it is removed with an abrasive to reveal the grain hidden underneath.

Hand turned to create a decorative vessel with a distinctive shape and charred edge, this vessel is light and has a textured feel in the hand. Finished with a food safe hard wax oil to highlight the beauty of the grain and to improve durability. This unique vessel measures 14.5cm tall by 9cm wide.
