Hand turned to create a decorative vessel with a distinctive curvy shape and charred exterior, this vessel is light and has a textured feel in the hand. Featuring stitched repairs using waxed cotton thread on one side. Finished with a food safe hard wax oil to highlight the beauty of the grain and to improve durability. This vessel measures 10cm tall by 11cm wide. Perfect as a small centrepiece or as decor around the home.

Finished with an ancient Japanese technique called Yakisugi, which involves using a 2000 degree flame to cause instant charring on the surface of the wood, before it is removed with an abrasive to reveal the grain hidden underneath.

English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels and bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
