A hand turned wooden fruit bowl, made from part of the outside and heartwood of the tree creating a clear line down the middle. The unique shape of the bowl paired with a large foot, several large natural cracks and a pale colour. This ash wood fruit bowl is heavy in the hand and lightly textured to the touch. Finished with a hard wax oil blend to preserve the pale colour of the ash, help highlight the beauty of the wide ash grain, and to nourish the wood. This bowl measures 29cm at its widest point, 14cm tall, and 9cm deep. Perfect for use as a fruit bowl or as a centerpiece. Made from ash sourced locally, and processed in my workshop.
English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels and bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
