This extra large handmade ash wood fruit bowl is hand turned using specialist woodturning tools to create a deep bowl with traditional curved sides and an even profile. Featuring striking, wide wavy grain turned from the heartwood of the tree, with natural cracks and splits. It has a beautiful distinct smell of charred wood from being in the same room as a charred vessel.
Featuring a large natural bark inclusion and a naturally warped shape. The unusual shape is a result of turning the wood whilst wet and allowing it to dry and move naturally, creating a distinctive rustic appearance.
This extra large wooden bowl feels heavy in the hand and is beautifully silky smooth to the touch. It is finished with 100% tung oil to darken the natural colour of the heartwood, highlight the natural beauty of the grain, and improve durability against stains and scratches.
This large wooden bowl measures 36cm wide, 13cm tall, and 10cm deep.
This large hand turned wooden fruit bowl makes a striking table centerpiece, ideal for displaying fruit or as a statement piece of natural wood home decor. Its unusual warped shape, natural cracks and distinctive grain make it a truly individual piece.
The bowl is made from English ash, locally sourced from well-managed sustainable woodland in a small village in Devon. Ash is a beautiful hardwood that can vary considerably in colour and grain. While it is commonly a pale yellow-white, the grain can vary dramatically between individual pieces, creating distinctive patterns and natural markings. Its strength and versatility make it an excellent choice for creating large handmade wooden bowls and vessels.
