Hand turned from a rare burl to create an extra large wooden vessel with a unique live edge and a natural void, This bowl is relatively heavy in the hand and smooth to the touch. Featuring a unique grain throughout the piece, a result of being part of a burl. This bowl has a very striking look, with a lightly warped shape - a result of turning the wood somewhat thin whilst wet and allowing it to dry and warp, giving it a natural rustic look . Finished with a hard wax oil with a white pigment mixed in to keep the natural pale colour of ash, and to highlight the beauty of the grain and to improve durability. This large vessel measures 30cm wide, 21cm tall, and 18cm deep. Perfect for use as a centrepiece or as home decor.

English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels, fruit bowls and salad bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
