Hand turned to create a large fruit bowl with a traditional curvy shape and an even profile. This bowl is moderately heavy in the hand and lightly textured to the touch. Warped and misshaped due to a result of turning the wood thin whilst wet and allowing it to dry and change shape, giving it a natural rustic look. Featuring several large cracks a part of the bark. Finished with a white hard wax oil to keep the ash a natural pale colour, to highlight the beauty of the grain, and to improve durability. This large bowl measures 31.5cm wide, 13cm tall, and 12.5cm deep. Perfect for use as a fruit bowl or as home decor.
 
English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels and bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
