English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white such as in this piece. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels and bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
 
Hand turned to create gentle curving sides and finished with a danish oil blend to preserve the pale colour of ash and to highlight the beauty of the grain. The large natural void creates a unique look to the piece that would be almost impossible recreate again. This large extra large wooden bowl measures 30cm wide, 10.5cm tall, and 10cm deep.
