Hand turned to create a traditionally shaped bowl with several natural cracks and stitched repairs using waxed cotton thread. This bowl is relatively light in the hand and silky smooth to the touch, with an unusually warped shape - a result of turning the wood thin whilst wet and allowing it to dry and warp, giving it a natural rustic look. Finished with 100% tung oil to darken the wood, highlight the beauty of the grain, and to improve durability. This bowl measures 24cm at its widest point, 10cm tall, and 9cm deep. Perfect for use as a decorative fruit bowl or as home decor. Made from ash sourced locally, and processed fully by myself.

English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels and bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
