Handmade with specialist tools to create a large shallow fruit bowl with gradually curving modern sides and a thin profile. This fruit bowl is very heavy in the hand and silky smooth to the touch. Finished with a white stained hard wax oil to keep the ash pale and prevent it developing a sickly yellow colour. This helps highlight the beauty of the grain and to improve durability. This large bowl measures 29cm wide, 8cm tall, and 3.5cm deep.
 
English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels and bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
