English beech, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Beech is a stunning light brown coloured wood with hints of orange. With a straight, closed grain, giving it a strong surface, beech is often used for kitchen utensils and cabinetry - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
 
Hand turned to create a shallow bowl with curvy modern sides and a thin profile, this bowl is light in the hand and silky smooth to the touch. Finished with a food safe hard wax oil to highlight the beauty of the grain and to improve durability. This large bowl measures 32cm wide, 4.5cm tall, and 3.5cm deep.
