Hand turned to create a bowl made from ash wood with a three footed design and a thin profile, this bowl has a textured charred finish, whilst being silky smooth. Finished with a hard wax oil to highlight the beauty of the grain and to improve durability. This bowl measures 33cm at its widest point, 13cm tall, and 10cm deep. Perfect as a centrepiece or as decor around the home.

Finished with an ancient Japanese technique called Yakisugi, which involves using a 2000 degree flame to cause instant burnt charring on the surface of the wood, before it is removed with an abrasive to reveal the grain hidden underneath.

English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels and bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
