Hand turned to create a small bowl with a traditional curvy shape and a thin profile, this bowl is light in the hand and silky smooth to the touch. Made using end grain wood, allowing for the grain to wrap around the piece instead of straight across, creating a unique look and contributing to the cracked center. Finished with a food safe hard wax oil to highlight the beauty of the grain and to improve durability. This small bowl measures 12cm wide, 4.5cm tall, and 4cm deep. Perfect for use as a key bowl or as home decor.

Finished with an ancient Japanese technique called Yakisugi, which involves using a 2000 degree flame to cause instant charring on the surface of the wood, before it is removed with an abrasive to reveal the grain hidden underneath.

English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels, fruit bowls and salad bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
