Hand turned to create a bowl with curvy uniform sides, featuring stitched repairs with waxed cotton thread, a large natural void, and a three footed base. A technique called yakisugi is used on the exterior where the wood is torched, cleaned and coated with hard wax oil to create a hard wearing finish that shows off the grain and darkens the wood. This bowl measures 19.5cm wide, 16cm tall, and 12.5cm deep. Perfect for use as home decor.

English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels, fruit bowls and salad bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
