Hand turned to create a shallow uniquely shaped bowl with several large natural cracks and knots. This bowl is relatively heavy in the hand relative to its size and silky smooth to the touch, with an unusually warped shape - a result of turning the wood whilst wet and allowing it to dry and warp, giving it a natural rustic look. Finished with 100% tung oil to darken the wood and bring out its natural orange/reddish colour, highlight the beauty of the grain, and to improve durability. This bowl measures 23cm at its widest point, 5.5cm tall, and 4cm deep. Perfect for use as a fruit bowl or as home decor. Made from apple sourced locally, and processed fully in my workshop.
Apple wood is a highly prized hardwood, valued for its rich colour, fine grain, and exceptional durability. Freshly worked, it displays warm golden and pinkish-brown tones that gradually deepen over time into a rich honey brown. Its tight even grain creates a smooth finish, making it the perfect choice for wooden bowls and spoons.
