Hand turned to create a traditionally shaped bowl with stitched repairs using waxed cotton thread. This bowl is light in the hand and silky smooth to the touch, with an unusual warped shape - a result of turning the wood thin whilst wet and allowing it to dry and warp, giving it a natural rustic look. 
Finished with a food safe hard wax oil to highlight the beauty of the grain and to improve durability. This small bowl measures 25cm wide, 8.5cm tall, and 8cm deep. Perfect for use as a fruit bowl or as home decor.
 
English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels, fruit bowls and salad bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
