Hand turned to create a more traditionally shaped bowl with stitched repairs using waxed cotton thread. This bowl is light in the hand and smooth to the touch, with an unusual warped shape - a result of turning the wood thin whilst wet and allowing it to dry and warp, giving it a natural rustic look. 
Finished with a food safe hard wax oil to darken the wood, highlight the beauty of the grain, and to improve durability. This bowl measures 24.5cm wide, 8cm tall, and 7.5cm deep. Perfect for use as a small fruit bowl or as home decor.
 
English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels and bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
