Hand turned to create a shallow fruit bowl with curvy uniform sides and a thin profile, this fruit bowl is light in the hand and has a textured smooth finish. Featuring three separate stitched repairs with waxed cotton thread and a highly warped shape - a result of turning the wood thin whilst wet and allowing it to dry and warp, giving it a natural rustic look. A technique called yakisugi is used on the exterior where the wood is torched, cleaned and coated with hard wax oil to create a hard wearing finish that shows off the grain and darkens the wood.

This bowl measures 25cm wide, 8cm tall, and 6.5cm deep. Perfect for use as a fruit bowl or as home decor. Please note due to the natural warp this bowl does not sit flat.

English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels, fruit bowls and salad bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
