Hand turned to create a medium sized fruit bowl with a shallow curvy shape. This bowl is fairly light in the hand and silky smooth to the touch. Featuring part of the heartwood and a lightly warped shape - a result of turning the wood thin whilst wet and allowing it to dry and warp, giving it a natural rustic look . Finished with a food safe hard wax oil to darken the wood and to enhance the grain. This bowl measures 27cm wide, 6cm tall, and 4.5cm deep. Perfect for use as a fruit bowl or as home decor.
 
English ash, locally sourced from well managed sustainable woodlands found in a small village in Devon. Ash is a stunning wood that can come in various different colours, the most commonly used being a nice pale yellow white. Ash typically has a straight grain, but this can vary wildly between different pieces, making it perfect for creating large vessels and bowls - giving it a permanent place in my workshop.
